ABDAR-RAHMAN MANOUCHI
Born 1993 in Malmö, Sweden.
Lives and works in Stockholm and Berlin.
Abdar-Rahman Manouchi, born in 1993, is a swedish-tunisian artist with a practice that moves between the conceptual and the intuitive image. As neurodivergent and with a split cultural heritage the experience of the in-between shapes his vision of a photographic practice. With impulse rather than narrative, he presents an inner experience through the selection and sequencing of images. Conceptual engagement lies at the core of this context, as the work centres on staged image-making. Constructed scenes are brought into existence through a combination of analogue and digital techniques, Manouchi builds and lights environments that explore philosophical thoughts to express something of the now and of life in our contemporary condition. Through an interplay between construction and digital transformation, his work challenges conventional understandings of photography.
